Size: 15-20 cm
Habitat: found at depths down to about 20 m.
Native to the Mediterranean sea, Eastern Atlantic, Black Sea and Baltic Sea. It lives in shallow waters where it camouflages among seaweeds, such as Posidonia seagrass. Pipefish are related to seahorses and are ovoviviparous like them: females deposit eggs into the male's brood pouches . Males then fertilize the eggs and incubate them until they hatch.

Present in the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Lives over rocky bottoms and seagrass meadows. It is the biggest mediterranean crab.
