Habitat: common between 10 and 70 metri.
Present in the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic ocean from France to the gulf of Guinea. Excellent predator, gregarious in the juvenile phase. Separate sex species, which reaches sexual maturity at about 8 months (18-19 cm in size). Reproduction in the Mediterranean takes place near the coast, from March to June, with a peak in May. In winter, adults migrate to greater depths.

Habitat: Pelagic species, particularly gregarious in the juvenile phase, common from 10 to 70 meters usually near to dry and toes
Circumglobal species, in tropical and subtropical seas except the Pacific Ocean. In spring and summer, for the period of reproduction, adults approach the coast and it is estimated that sexual maturity is reached from the third to fifth year of life with a total length of about 120 cm. The first stages of growth of this fish are explosive: individuals born in spring reach 800 gr. of weight and 40 cm of length in a year, to 4 nests life usually triplicate their length (93-106 cm).
