Habitat: It is a typical species of coastal sandy bottoms spread in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic up to the French coasts and in the south to Nigeria, also present in the Red Sea.
Particularly gregarious in the juvenile phase; Eurialine often enters into brackish ponds like lagoons. It reproduces at the beginning of the summer. It is a proterandric hermaphrodite so it is born male and becomes female (at the size of 21 - 28 cm, between 4 - 7 years) as the sea bream, although a certain number of individuals is born of female sex and remains for life (primary females). The livery with the characteristic alternating striations, indicates that the species is typical of sandy bottoms, where it manages to hide well with the environment.
